The production of artificial graphite involves several steps, including
1.Raw material processing
Usually, natural graphite is used as the raw material ,and the impurities and hard graphite are removed through crushing, magnetic separation, leaching, and other processes to obtain pure graphite ore. After crushing and grinding, a certain particle size of graphite powder is obtained.
2.Graphitization
The graphite powder is placed in a high-temperature furnace for graphitization treatment. Under high-temperature conditions, the crystalline water and volatile matter in the graphite powder are released, causing the graphite powder to expand in volume and form graphite flakes.
3.Refining
The graphite flakes obtained after graphitization are refined to improve the irpurity and performance. Refining methods include chemical refining, electrolytic refining, and high-temperature treatment.
4.Forming
The refined graphite flakes are mixed with other raw materials (such as binders, fillers, etc.), and then formed into a certain shape and specification through mixing, kneading, and forming processes. Common graphite products include graphite electrodes, isostatic graphite, etc.
5.Carbonization
The graphite products formed are placed in a carbonization furnace for carbonization treatment. During carbonization, the volatile matter and impurities in the products are further removed, and the graphite structure is improved.
6.Graphitization
After carbonization, the graphite products are subjected to a second graphitization treatment to improve the ircrystallinity and performance. This process usually takes place at high temperature sand in non-oxidizing atmospheres.
Through the above steps, various artificial graphite products can be produced. Different production methods and technologies will affect the performance and quality of artificial graphite. In practical production, the appropriate raw materials and processes should be selected according to specific needs.
